The Effects Of Ecstasy


Many people do MDMA because of it's desirable effects these include, Loss of inhibitions, euphoric state, reduced anxiety, emotional openness, and empathy. However there are some more negative effects that come into play from long term usage these can include impaired concentration, depression, and an increased sense of openness with people. Research done by NIDA showed that using club drugs such as ecstasy will have additive effects with alcohol and can increase your chances of death. However there are people who have the idea that the drug is safe. (Rivas-Vazquez, Rafael A. Delgado, Lizbhet N.D) (2*)

In to most a weird turn of events the FDA has approved a preliminary study that hopes to show that ecstasy could be used to help with psychotherapy for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) (Rivas-Vazquez, Rafael A. Delgado, Lizbhet N.D) (2*)

With ecstasy and a wide range of other drugs it is difficult to actually do tests on ECSTASY. Drugs are cut with other cheaper things as much as possible. During an analysis of MDMA confiscated from users showed that they had a range of ingredients and showed that 36% of the tablets they gathered even contained MDMA (Rivas-Vazquez, Rafael A. When MDMA is ingested orally it will enter systemic circulation and will cross the Blood Brain Barrier within 15 minutes on a empty stomach the duration of the effects will on average last 3-5 hours however the half life for it is about 8 hours. You are risking overdose at around 200mg dose.

MDMA has been refereed to as a "messy drug" due to it's ability to affect a vast amount of receptors including Serotonin, nor-epinephrine, dopamine and acetylcholine receptors. At low doses Ecstasy can cause side effects such as anxiety and agitation . At a higher level of dose you could be faced with panic attacks, hallucinations or brief psychosis. The physical side effects such things as nausea, blurred vision, jaw clenching etc
